What are the graduation requirements?

Do students take the Kansas State Assessments?
Students who are enrolled as full-time students at Insight School of Kansas are required to take the Kansas State Assessments. Insight staff will make arrangements to have students take the test in proctored locations that are geographically close to where they live.

Can I transfer credits in from a homeschool portfolio? From standardized exams?
Students can be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade when they enroll. Generally speaking, students can transfer in high school credits or earn credit for home school work to apply towards their graduation requirements at Insight School of Kansas. Students who enroll with high school credits or with work from a home school portfolio must meet with a member of our Student Support team to evaluate satisfactory completion of the work as it relates to Insight School of Kansas standards.

Who issues the diploma? What does it say?
The Spring Hill Unified School District, the school district that authorizes the School, issues the diploma. Graduating students will be issued a diploma from Insight School of Kansas from the Spring Hill Unified School District.

Can my child apply to college after graduating from Insight?
Absolutely. When your son or daughter graduates from Insight School of Kansas, he or she will have a valid diploma from our district partnership in your state, as well as the records required for the college application process: valid transcripts, public high school SAT/ACT scores, teacher recommendations, and school extracurricular activities.

There are additional benefits for college-bound students who graduate from Insight School of Kansas:

  • Students can choose from multiple academic options—AP (Advanced Placement), Honors, and College Prep—designed specifically to help pave the way for college admission. These academic options offer the necessary courses, preparation, and challenges.
  • Colleges and universities over the past several years have begun to appreciate that independent study programs such as Insight School of Kansas often do a better job of preparing students for college because of important time management and individual responsibility skills they impart. Colleges are finding students from programs such as Insight School of Kansas making the transition into college more readily than many of their counterparts.
